MAPS Shelter Services
At MAPS Shelter Services, our goal is to provide a safe environment for homeless, pregnant, and/or parenting women and their children while offering training and resources to help our clients attain life skills that will lead to healthy independent living free from government assistance.
Who do we serve?
Our residents are pregnant and/or parenting women, age 18 or older, who are in need of residential support. Shelter residents are at least seven months pregnant and/or parenting, and at least 18 years old or emancipated. The common denominator is that all residents are committed to making a better life for themselves and their children.
Requirements
Residents are expected to attend classes on topics such as parenting, life skills, wellness and financial literacy and to meet regularly with a case manager to set goals for progress. Clients are directed towards permanent housing resources in the community, and are required to participate in employment, volunteering, or education during their stay.
Other Services
MAPS also administers a donation program that serves those in need in the greater Portland community. Donations mainly consist of baby clothes, baby furniture and other baby items in good condition.
